Eve Online

My new game of choice is Eve online. A space based mmo that's been around for 10 years. I stepped into the game like everyone does with a rookie ship and the tutorial missions to teach me how to play and what the different options are.  I quickly decided my goal was to get to a point where I can buy PLEX in game and still turn a profit.

PLEX stands for Pilot Licence Extension. This is a token that represents 30 days of game time.  These tokens are purchased for real money and then sold on the in-game market for ISK (Inter Stellar Kroner).   It would be a bad idea to pay for your own game time by buying PLEX with real money and using it, because at it's cheapest PLEX costs more that the most expensive subscription.  Buy getting my in-game income up high enough to buy PLEX with ISK, I will effectively be playing the game for free.

To get my income up to that point, I've decided to become a miner.  It also happens that I fell in with a really great group of guys that make up a mining corporation. (The Eve Online version of a guild or clan) I'm current flying a Covetor fitted for maximum ore yield. This is not enough, and I'll have to eventually move into a Mackinaw which will maximize my yield for solo mining.

From the Sarlacc Pit...

My shoulder is inflamed today. As a result, it aches constantly and distractedly. I put a patch on it and took some Tylenol to see if that helps.

Some of you may know that I have a torn rotator cuff.  This means that I'm in more or less constant pain.  I've been using Tylenol and menthol patches to control the pain.  I'm using the micro sized patches that give me more control over dosage.  Today is another 3 patch day, which means I'm using the equivalent of a medium sized patch.  I hope it doesn't get worse.

Continuing to Trust LastPass

Many people are panicking over the purchase of LastPass by Logmein. This is somewhat justified after Logmein's rescinding its promise that there would always be a free version of Logmein, and its shutting down of Hamachi. There are concerns, and they are reasonable concerns.

However, there was a very good interview this week on Security Now! episode 529 with LastPass founder Joe Siegrist. They spoke with him about the concerns users have and how LastPass plans to address them.  Siegrist stated that he would continue to be in charge of LastPass and that he has been told he will be in total control.   I think we will need to keep an eye on LastPass and how Logmein treats it over the next year or two, but for now, with Siegrist in charge, I think we can continue to trust it.    I will, however, start keeping an offline backup of my LastPass database, so that I can switch at a moment's notice.

Going #NSNG?

Ok, I understand what I need to lose weight.  I just have trouble doing it.  I need to go #NSNG and avoid processed foods.  I just can't seem to keep myself from getting something from the snack shack at work.

Struggle to Behave

I'm trying really hard not to eat foods I should avoid. Especially foods from the snack shack at work.  I'm going to do my best to not get anything.

Starting over

I'm starting over in my journey to get healthy.  With it, I'm also starting my website and blog over.    I hope to make entries at least daily.
